FreeLinc Acquires Aura Communications Technology
Innovative company now offers combined patented wireless Push-To-Talk PTT) and Near-Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) technology unsurpassed in the industry.
October 8, 2007—Orem, UT— FreeLinc, the market leader in wireless communication accessories for two-way radios, today announced the completion of its acquisition of Aura Communications Technology, a pioneer in near-field magnetic induction communications. FreeLinc is the largest wireless accessory communications company in the industry, delivering wireless solutions that provide secure PTT capabilities utilizing secure, short-range technology. FreeLinc currently serves more than 800 military, police, fire, sheriff, and commercial organizations worldwide. Aura Communications, a privately held company, has been developing near-field magnetic induction based integrated circuits since 1995. Aura has invested over $31 million into research and development and has been issued ten U.S. patents in nearfield magnetic induction technology. Anthony J. Sutera, CEO of FreeLinc, stated, “The acquisition of Aura Communications Technology brings together Aura’s low-level ASIC magnetic induction technology and FreeLinc’s system level integration solutions of near-field magnetic induction with existing RF communication systems.”

As part of the acquisition, FreeLinc will add Mr. Robert Fealy to its Board of Directors. Mr. Fealy was a Director of Aura Communications Technology, and is currently Executive Vice President of Duchossois Industries and Managing Director of Duchossois Technology Partners. Mr. Fealy also serves as Chairman of the Board.
