University of Utah Campus Police Department Selects FreeLinc

May 1, 2010 – Orem, UT – FreeLinc, the world leader in Near Field Magnetic Induction Communication technology, is excited to announce that the University of Utah’s Police Department has selected our secure wireless systems for use by their sworn campus officers.

FreeLinc’s FreeMic 200 and FreeMotion 100 will provide their officers with communication systems for their portable radios without the hazards and hassles of typical corded or wired systems. Both systems interface to the portable radio through a FreeLinc adapter. The adapter provides a second push to talk option allowing their officers to always maintain a defensive posture and discretion when transmitting. The FreeMic 200 speaker microphone boasts up to 50 hours of continuous talk time on a single charge. The FreeMotion 100 is FreeLinc’s newest wireless device. It’s a lightweight, single ear headset resembling those commonly used with mobile phones.

“The University of Utah Police Department was looking for a solution to replace our existing wired mobile communications link. The old system was fragile, often broken or intermittently out of service. We found what we were looking for in FreeLinc. FreeLinc Announces Addition to U.S. Patent Portfolio in the Near Field Communication (NFC) Space – Patent No. 7,254,366

March 17, 2010 – Orem, UT – FreeLinc, the world leader in NFC secure wireless capabilities, is excited to announce the issuance of Patent No. 7,254,366.  FreeLinc’s Patent Portfolio now stands at 16 issued U.S. Patents.

FreeLinc’s patent provides a system to communicate via Near Field Communication (NFC) while allowing the communication system to change between multiple communication channels in order to avoid interference between similar devices.  This will allow Near Field Communication systems with extended range to co-exist while they are in close proximity.

As the demand for short range Personal Area Networks (PAN’s) increase due to the need for secure localized communication systems, FreeLinc’s capabilities utilizing NFC patented technology will have enormous worldwide demand.  NFC Personal Area Networks have broad use in military applications, public safety communications, consumer products and the cellular telephone industry.

FreeLinc Hires New Sr. Vice President – Doug Hebert

November 2nd, 2009

Orem, UT– FreeLinc, a pioneer and market leader in wireless communication for two-way radios announces Mr. Doug Hebert as Senior Vice President.  As a member of the executive management team at FreeLinc, Mr. Hebert will have responsibility for sales in the public safety, private security and commercial marketplaces.

Doug Hebert retired as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) after 26 years of service.  He started in DEA’s San Diego Field Division, and was promoted to Group Supervisor in Phoenix, Arizona, supervising Arizona’s Methamphetamine Investigative Task Force.  Doug was then re-assigned to Staff Coordinator at DEA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.  Subsequently, he was promoted to Section Chief DEA Headquarters in their Domestic Operations Mexico & Central America Section.  His next promotion was to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of DEA’s Phoenix Field Division, overseeing enforcement groups, task forces, money laundering operations, and training.  In 2009, as part of a DEA nationwide initiative, Doug established two Tactical Diversion Task Forces in Arizona, to address the diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances throughout Arizona.

Its contemporary design provides a single ear headset, using FreeLinc’s patented Near Field Magnetic Induction (NFMI) technology. The FreeMotion 100 TM is the ultimate communication solution for two-way radio users.

The FreeMotion 100 TM will operate up to 20 continuous hours on a single charge. It includes a wide assortment of ear wires and gels to offer the user the most comfortable, secure fit for either the right or left ear.

FreeLinc Donates Phones for Women in the Community

February 9th, 2009

PROVO, Utah (Jan. 9, 2009) – A donation of approximately 50 new cell phones was made to United Way of Utah County by FreeLinc. The phones will go to the Center for Women and Children in Crisis.

“As a member of the Utah community, FreeLinc is proud to make this donation,” said Randy Bailey, President of FreeLinc. “We value our relationship with the Center for Women and Children in Crisis in Utah County and desire to continue to provide support as needed.”

FreeLinc Signs Army Contract

Orem, UT – October 20, 2008 – FreeLinc, the pioneer and market leader in secure wireless capabilities, announced today that it has signed an agreement with the US Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC) located in Natick, Massachusetts to further develop and integrate its Near Field Magnetic Communications as part of a four year goal to remove all cables on soldiers.

Building on the successes of the Future Force Warrior (FFW) Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD) and the lessons learned from the successful demonstration of Land Warrior (4-9 Manchu System) in the Iraq Theater, NSRDEC will develop technologies through Advanced Technology Objectives (ATOs). Those ATOs will focus on research in the following areas: Soldier Protection, Small Unit Lethality Integration, Soldier Power, Small Unit Systems Integration and Demonstration, Soldier Network Integration, and Soldier Mobility & Enhanced Load Carriage.
