Technical Support Detective

January 18th, 2012

“For the past several months I have been using this device in the field. My primary duty assignment is in surveillance. The earpiece (FreeMotion 100 with Wireless Remote Push To Talk) works awesome and I’ve had no trouble with other members of my unit hearing me just fine. As you may recall I was less than impressed with previous products that I had from your company. I would have to say that my opinion has changed greatly.”

Note:  This FreeLinc customer tried our original FreeMotion 200.  He gave us another opportunity to show him we’ve come a long way with changes in product design and technology since our original release in 2006.  Department policy prohibits the use of department/name to avoid the appearance of endorsement.  Customer has 35 years of law enforcement experience and is the Technical Support Detective with a metropolitan agency.

Gabriel Garcia – Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, FL

“I want to take the time to express my experience with Customer Service contact, Julia Johnson. Julia went out of her way and beyond the necessary to make me a lifetime customer of FreeLinc by helping me with my purchase process instead of just blowing me off and moving on to another customer.

She kept me in mind by being patient and understanding. Most importantly, she kept in mind that I was in dire need of the equipment and help. That alone amazed me. She stepped out of the box by helping a LEO by quickly shipping me the tools to help me do my job.

Hope and wish all good things to such a professional person.”

Sgt. Jeff Myers – Island County Sheriffs Office, WA

“I have been using my FreeMic 200 (with the FreeLinc Ultra Light Custom EP) for about 18 months now. I am completely and totally satisfied and impressed with the system. The light weight, ease of use and sound quality are amazing.

My department’s jurisdiction is mostly suburban and rural with some heavily wooded areas and farm land. There have been numerous times, during my 28 years in law enforcement, that I have had my corded mics ripped away by obstructions (or by disagreeable persons on their way to jail) leaving me to search for my mic somewhere near my feet. With the FreeMic 200, I do not have a cord dangling from my uniform to hang up on branches, barbed wire, or to be grabbed by resistive / combative subjects, which greatly increases my safety on the job. The clip on the FreeMic 200 is sturdy and I’ve not had it come off my uniform yet.

Yet another benefit of the FreeMic 200 is the freedom to mount the mic anywhere I choose. I am right handed but left “eyed” so wearing the corded mic on the normal left shoulder position interfered with my ability to utilize a long gun. The alternative was to stretch the cord across my back to the right shoulder, which was at times uncomfortable. The FreeMic 200 lets me comfortably wear the mic on my right shoulder. The PTT mounted on the radio adaptor allows me to use my left hand to transmit, without having to reach across my body. The battery life is great. One 6 hour charge at the beginning of the week is all it takes to get me through 4 – ten plus hour shifts.

We also have a military airbase in our county. The FreeLinc Ultra Custom EP helps me to hear important communications when operating in the high noise zones as well as keeping those transmissions private when contacting “bad guys” or operating in areas where I want to reduce my noise signature. It is very well made, lightweight and comfortable. I sometimes forget I am wearing it…”

John Moellmer – Timpanogos Emergency Response Team, UT

“I have used the FreeMic 200 for several years for wilderness medical response in many different situations – rain, snow, heat, and cold and have never had any problems with the system. Being free from the hassle of cords is a major benefit in providing medical assistance in mountainous situations. The battery in the microphone is long-lasting, the audio quality is excellent, and the on-microphone volume adjustment is very convenient.

In addition to an outstanding product, the customer service provided is absolutely top notch! After several years of use, the clip on the back of the mic broke and needed replacement. Customer Service provided me prompt, accurate, and excellent service in order to get the microphone quickly repaired. FreeLinc has a top quality product and a Customer Service department to match. Thanks so much!”

Utah State University PD Making the Switch

March 2nd, 2011

Logan, UT-Feb 25, 2011-Police Officers patrolling Utah State University are now safer and more comfortable, thanks to new FreeLinc wireless systems.

“My officers look better, but most important, we are rid of a heavy microphone cord which could be used as a weapon against the officers,” stated Steven Mecham, Police Chief at Utah State University.

All full-time USU Police Officers and Fire Marshals now use the FreeLinc system.

FreeLinc’s FreeMic 200 and FreeMotion 200 provide the officers with a secure communication system for their portable radios without the hazards and hassles of typical corded or wired systems. Both interface with standard-issue portable radios through a FreeLinc adapter, which transmits a secure magnetic signal to a remote cordless speaker mic or headset.

Incidence of officers being attacked with their own radio speaker microphone cords and entanglement concerns have made many departments rethink the safety of traditional corded speaker microphones.

“One of my officers borrowed a FreeLinc Cordless Speaker Mic from a neighboring police department. He highly recommended the system for its convenience, comfort, and reliability. I like being rid of the bulky cord,” Chief Mecham further said.

“We are proud to have Utah State University as our customer,” stated Randy Bailey, FreeLinc CEO and President. “We are eager to continue to provide Chief Mecham and his officers the quality products and support they have come to expect and deserve from FreeLinc.”

FreeLinc’s FreeMic 200 and FreeMotion 100 will provide their officers with communication systems for their portable radios without the hazards and hassles of typical corded or wired systems. The FreeMic 200 speaker microphone boasts up to 50 hours of continuous talk time on a single charge. The FreeMotion 100 is FreeLinc’s newest wireless device. It’s a lightweight, single ear headset resembling those commonly used with mobile phones.

The old system was fragile, often broken or intermittently out of service. We found what we were looking for in FreeLinc. The FreeLinc system provides reliable, wireless operation, good technical support, and works in some of our more unique environments. We have fully deployed the FreeLinc system in our Police Department, and we are currently evaluating it for our non-sworn security staff,” stated University of Utah Chief of Police, Scott Folsom.
